Education advocacy organizations are popping up left and right. A group of Minerva parents, community and school staff has formed Minerva CARES, which stands for Calling on Albany to Restore Equity for our School).
The group has launched a website to bring attention to the plight of the small school because of a lack of funding and to provide taxpayers and advocates with resources to lobby for fairer funding.
They go on to say that the state has continued to impose unfunded mandates and the tax cap, which has forced the district to make what it calls devastating cuts to staff and programs.
More information and ideas about how to get involved can be obtained on the website minervacares.org or through printed materials available at Sullivan’s Store, the Minerva Town Hall or Minerva Central School.
“Minerva CARES believes that through education and action, we can make a difference — our school and community depend on it, and our students deserve it,” said a statement from the organizers.
